Hi, welcome to TKH, where we simplify tech for everybody!
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to run security checks on your Facebook account:
1. Log in to Facebook:
Open your web browser or Facebook App and log in to your Facebook account using your username and password.
2. Access Settings:
Click on the downward-facing arrow located in the top-right corner of the Facebook homepage to access the dropdown menu. From the menu, select “Settings & Privacy,” then click on “Settings.”
3. Navigate to Meta Account Center:
At the very top, you will see, META Account Centre, click or tap on this area, and the account center opens up. Select “Password and security” under the Account Settings section. When this opens up, do the following under the “Security checks” section.
4. Where you are logged in:
This security checks option provides you with information on devices where your account is currently logged in. It provides you with an option to logout from that device. Please do well to remove the unnecessary ones.
5. Review Login Alerts:
The Security Checkup will guide you through several steps to review and enhance your account’s security. A crucial part of this step typically involves reviewing your login alerts. These alerts notify you whenever your account is accessed from an unrecognized device or browser. Review the recent login alerts and ensure they all look familiar. If you notice any suspicious activity, take appropriate action, such as changing your password or enabling Two-Factor Authentication.
6. Review Recent Emails:
The next step may involve reviewing recent emails sent by Facebook regarding security-related events, such as password changes or unrecognized logins. Review these emails to ensure they are legitimate and that you initiated any reported actions.
7. Review Authorized Logins:
You may also be prompted to review the devices and browsers currently logged into your Facebook account. Ensure that you recognize all authorized logins and revoke access for any devices or browsers that you no longer use or recognize.
8. Review App Permissions:
Lastly, the Security Checkup may prompt you to review the permissions granted to third-party apps connected to your Facebook account. Review the list of apps and remove access for any apps that you no longer use or trust.
9. Complete Checkup:
After reviewing each step of the Security Checkup, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. Facebook may provide additional recommendations based on your security settings and activity.
10. Regularly Monitor Security Settings:
After completing the Security Checkup, make it a habit to regularly monitor your security settings and review any security-related notifications or alerts from Facebook. Stay vigilant and proactive in protecting your account from unauthorized access and potential security threats.
That’s it! By running the Security Checkup on your Facebook account, you can ensure that your account is secure and take necessary actions to enhance its security posture.
